  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

  • Knife
  • Cooking pan or skillet
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together chickpea flour, water, sea salt, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and turmeric to create a smooth batter.
  2. Stir in the lemon juice to the batter.
  3. In a skillet, heat enough oil to cover the bottom over medium heat.
  4. Take pieces of your chosen vegan fish substitute, dip them into the batter ensuring they are fully coated.
  5. Roll the coated pieces in breadcrumbs for a crunchy texture.
  6. Carefully place the coated pieces in the hot oil and fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  7. Transfer the fried vegan fish to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite sides.

Notes

For an extra crispy texture, double-dip your pieces in the batter and breadcrumbs!
