Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons whole milk or more as needed for consistency
  • Pinch of salt

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or fork
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spoon or small ladle for drizzling
  • Microwave or small saucepan

Method

  1. Measure and sift one cup of powdered sugar into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add two tablespoons of melted unsalted butter and whisk until smooth.
  3. Stir in one and a half teaspoons of vanilla extract until fully combined.
  4. Add a pinch of salt and whisk to balance the sweetness.
  5. Pour in two tablespoons of whole milk and whisk until you achieve a smooth, pourable consistency.
  6. If the glaze is too thick, add additional milk one teaspoon at a time, whisking and testing after each addition.
  7. Continue adjusting the consistency until the glaze lightly coats the back of a spoon.
  8. Drizzle the glaze over warm or cooled pastries, cakes, or donuts and allow it to set for a few minutes.

Notes

Let the glaze set at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes before serving to form a light, crispy shell.
