Ingredients
Method
- Chill a highball or Collins glass in the freezer for 5 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the ingredients.
- Cut a fresh lime in half and juice one half to yield approximately 0.5 ounce of lime juice.
- Discard any ice water from the chilled glass and fill the glass completely with fresh ice cubes.
- Measure 1.5 ounces of vodka and pour it slowly over the ice.
- Add 3 ounces of Concord grape juice to the glass.
- Pour in 0.5 ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice.
- Gently top the drink with 2 ounces of ginger beer, pouring down the side of the glass to preserve carbonation.
- Stir the cocktail two or three times with a bar spoon to combine without losing effervescence.
- Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim and a few fresh grapes if desired, then serve immediately while cold and fizzy.
Notes
For the most balanced flavor, use unsweetened Concord grape juice and a high-quality ginger beer made with real ginger. To make a non-alcoholic version, omit the vodka and increase the ginger beer to maintain volume.
