Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup warm milk 110°F
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Cinnamon Honey Butter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Rolling pin
  • Baking sheet
  • Kitchen towel
  • Small bowl for butter

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter and egg to the yeast mixture and stir to combine.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 1/2 cups of flour and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  5. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  7. After rising, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball.
  8. Place the shaped dough on a baking sheet and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Brush the buns with melted butter right after baking for a glossy finish.
