- Chill your rocks glass in the freezer for at least two minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink.
- Using a jigger, measure out 2 ounces of anejo tequila into the mixing glass.
- Add 1 teaspoon of agave nectar and stir gently for a few seconds to help it integrate.
- Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters and stir gently to combine.
- Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir for 15 to 20 seconds to chill and dilute slightly.
- Empty the chilled rocks glass of any ice water.
- Strain the tequila mixture into the chilled rocks glass, leaving the mixing glass ice behind.
- Place one large ice cube (or 3 to 4 standard cubes) into the glass.
- Twist a strip of orange peel over the drink to express the oils, then drop the peel into the glass as garnish.
