  • Rocks glass or lowball glass
  • cocktail strainer
  • Channel knife or vegetable peeler
  • Ice cube molds

Method

  1. Chill your rocks glass in the freezer for at least two minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink.
  2. Using a jigger, measure out 2 ounces of anejo tequila into the mixing glass.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon of agave nectar and stir gently for a few seconds to help it integrate.
  4. Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters and stir gently to combine.
  5. Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir for 15 to 20 seconds to chill and dilute slightly.
  6. Empty the chilled rocks glass of any ice water.
  7. Strain the tequila mixture into the chilled rocks glass, leaving the mixing glass ice behind.
  8. Place one large ice cube (or 3 to 4 standard cubes) into the glass.
  9. Twist a strip of orange peel over the drink to express the oils, then drop the peel into the glass as garnish.
