Ingredients

Main
  • 1 pound beef sirloin or tapa sliced thinly
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 eggs
  • Salt to taste

Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Medium saucepan
  • Spatula
  • Cooking spoon
  • Meat tenderizer or rolling pin
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced beef, soy sauce, vinegar, minced garlic, brown sugar, and black pepper. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat and sauté minced garlic until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the cooked rice and season with salt to taste. Fry the rice for about 5 minutes.
  4. In the same skillet, heat another tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat and sear the marinated beef for about 3-5 minutes.
  5. In a separate pan, fry the eggs sunny-side up until the whites are set.
  6. On each plate, create a mound of garlic rice, top it with the cooked beef, and add the fried egg.
  7. Consider serving with pickled vegetables or sliced tomatoes.
  8. Enjoy your homemade Tapsilog!

Notes

For the best flavor, let the beef marinate overnight in the fridge.
