Ingredients

Main
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar or Mexican blend
  • 1 cup diced bell peppers
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1 large pizza dough store-bought
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • Optional: salsa sour cream for serving

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin
  • Knife or pizza cutter

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or turkey and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning and a splash of water.
  4. Add the diced bell peppers and onion to the skillet and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the veggies are slightly tender.
  5. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 1/4-inch thick.
  6. Spread the meat and veggie mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a border around the edges, and sprinkle the cheese on top.
  7. Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough up over the filling and pinch the edges to seal tightly.
  8. Transfer the rolled stromboli to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush the top with an egg wash.
  9. Bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Let the stromboli rest for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes
