  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon chipotle powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce optional

Method
 

  1. Gather all ingredients and equipment in a small mixing bowl area.
  2. Pour 3/4 cup mayonnaise and 1/4 cup sour cream into the mixing bowl.
  3. Squeeze 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice into the bowl.
  4. Add 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon cumin, 1/2 teaspoon chili powder, 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika, and 1/4 teaspoon chipotle powder.
  5. Season with 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper.
  6. If desired, stir in 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce for extra heat.
  7. Whisk vigorously for about one minute until the mixture is smooth and emulsified.
  8. Taste and adjust seasonings, adding more lime juice, salt, or chipotle powder as needed.

Notes

Make ahead and refrigerate for at least one hour or up to one week in a sealed glass jar to allow flavors to develop. Shake before each use.
