  • 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of black pepper
  • 1 cup of barbecue sauce

Equipment

  • Smoker or grill with a lid
  • Wood chips (hickory, apple, or cherry)
  • Meat thermometer
  • Aluminum foil
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board

Method

  1. Start by removing the silver skin from the back of the ribs.
  2. In a bowl, combine brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Rub the spice mixture generously over both sides of the ribs.
  4. Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C) and add your choice of wood chips.
  5. Place the ribs in the smoker bone side down and smoke for about 3 hours.
  6. After 3 hours, remove the ribs and wrap them tightly in aluminum foil.
  7. Return the wrapped ribs to the smoker and cook for another 2 hours.
