Ingredients

Main
  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 blend for optimal flavor
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns your choice
  • Cheese slices optional, for cheeseburgers
  • Toppings lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, etc.

Equipment

  • Large skillet or griddle
  • Spatula (preferably a metal one)
  • Meat thermometer
  • Mixing bowl
  • Knife and cutting board

Method

  1. Start by placing the ground beef in a mixing bowl. Avoid overworking the meat to keep it tender.
  2. Divide the beef into four equal portions without shaping them into full patties.
  3. Heat your skillet or griddle over medium-high heat until it is hot.
  4. Place the meatballs in the skillet and use the spatula to press down firmly.
  5. Sprinkle salt and pepper on the exposed side of the patties.
  6. Let the burgers cook for about 3-4 minutes without moving them.
  7. Carefully flip each burger and add a slice of cheese if desired. Cook for another 2 minutes or until the cheese melts.
  8. Transfer the cooked patties to burger buns and add your favorite toppings.

Notes

For extra flavor, toast the burger buns on the skillet for a minute before assembly.
