Ingredients

Main
  • 2 ripe bananas sliced
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whipped cream for topping
  • Vanilla wafers for layering

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Serving dishes or cups

Method

  1. Start by gathering all your ingredients.
  2. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk until combined.
  4. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens and bubbles, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. In serving dishes, layer the sliced bananas and vanilla wafers.
  7. Pour the warm pudding over the banana and wafer layers.
  8. Let the pudding cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Notes

Letting the pudding chill overnight makes it even creamier and more flavorful. Serve with extra whipped cream and fresh berries.
