Ingredients

Main
  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 small tortillas
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream optional
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro optional

Equipment

  • Skillet or frying pan
  • Spatula or wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cutting board
  • Knife

Method

  1. Start by cutting the chicken breasts into small, bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss the chicken pieces in this spice mix until they are well coated.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the seasoned chicken to the hot skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and no longer pink.
  5. While the chicken cooks, warm the tortillas in a separate pan or microwave.
  6. Fill each tortilla with the cooked chicken and top with diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and cheese.
  7. If desired, add a dollop of sour cream and sprinkle fresh cilantro on top.
  8. Arrange the tacos on a platter and serve immediately.
