Ingredients

Main
  • 8 ounces ramen noodles
  • 1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 inch ginger grated
  • 1 cup bok choy chopped
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha optional, for heat

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Strainer
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Serving bowls

Method

  1. Begin by boiling water in a large pot. Add the ramen noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. In the same pot, add the chicken or vegetable broth and bring it to a gentle simmer.
  3. In a separate skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing until fragrant.
  4. Stir the sautéed mixture into the broth. Then, add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink.
  5. Add the soy sauce to the broth for depth and seasoning, enhancing the umami flavor.
  6. Add the chopped bok choy and cook for another 2 minutes until wilted but still crunchy.
  7. Drain the cooked ramen noodles and add them to the broth mixture. Toss well to combine.
  8. Pour the ramen into bowls and garnish with sliced green onions. Add sriracha if you like a spicy kick.

Notes

For extra flavor, let your broth simmer longer before adding shrimp and noodles.
