  • 1 lb shaved beef
  • 4 sandwich rolls
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese provolone or cheddar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

Method

  1. Gather all your ingredients and slice the onion.
  2. Place a skillet over medium heat and add olive oil.
  3. Add the sliced onion to the skillet and sauté until golden and soft, about 5 minutes.
  4. Push the onions to one side of the skillet and add the shaved beef. Cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the beef while cooking.
  6. Evenly distribute the shredded cheese over the beef and onions and cover the skillet with a lid for 2-3 minutes to melt the cheese.
  7. Slice the sandwich rolls open, but do not cut all the way through.
  8. Use a spatula to scoop the beef and cheese onto the rolls.

Notes

For extra flavor, toast the sandwich rolls lightly in the skillet before filling them.
