Ingredients

Main
  • 0.5 ounces Frangelico hazelnut liqueur
  • 0.5 ounces Creme de cacao dark
  • 0.5 ounces Butterscotch schnapps
  • 0.5 ounces Irish cream liqueur such as Baileys
  • Tiny splash of vanilla extract optional

Equipment

  • Jigger or shot glass for measuring
  • Shot glass for serving
  • Bar spoon or small mixing spoon
  • Cocktail shaker (optional)

Method

  1. Place your shot glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes before mixing to keep the liqueurs at the right temperature and prevent separation.
  2. Pour 0.5 ounces of Frangelico hazelnut liqueur into your jigger, then transfer it to the chilled shot glass.
  3. Measure 0.5 ounces of dark creme de cacao and slowly pour it into the shot glass over the back of a bar spoon to create a layer on top of the Frangelico.
  4. Pour 0.5 ounces of butterscotch schnapps over the back of the bar spoon in the same careful manner to create the middle layer.
  5. Gently pour 0.5 ounces of Irish cream liqueur over the bar spoon to create the final top layer.
  6. If desired, add a tiny splash of vanilla extract to the top layer and stir gently with your bar spoon for extra depth.
  7. Hold the shot glass up to the light and admire the four distinct color bands.
  8. Serve and drink immediately before the layers fully integrate. You can either shoot it all at once or sip it slowly to taste each layer individually.

Notes

Chill all your liqueurs in the freezer for 15 minutes before layering for best results. Cold spirits are denser and much easier to layer without mixing. Pour slowly and deliberately over the back of a bar spoon to achieve clean, visible layers. This shot pairs perfectly with desserts and can be served as an after-dinner digestif or alongside coffee.
