Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Measuring cups
  • Wooden spoon or whisk
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Glass jar or bottle for storage

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the raspberries, water, and sugar.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves and the raspberries begin to break down.
  3. Once the mixture starts to simmer, reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. Using a wooden spoon, mash the raspberries against the side of the saucepan.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly.
  6. Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a clean bowl or jar to separate the solids from the liquid.
  7. Let the syrup cool completely at room temperature.
  8. Transfer the cooled syrup to a glass jar or bottle.
