Ingredients

Main
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cheese cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a mix
  • 1 cup cooked chicken beef, or vegetables (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon taco seasoning optional
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish, optional
  • Sour cream for serving, optional
  • Guacamole for serving, optional

Equipment

  • Skillet or frying pan
  • Spatula
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Gather all your ingredients and slice any vegetables or proteins you will use.
  2. Place a skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
  3. On half of each tortilla, sprinkle a generous amount of cheese, followed by your protein and any veggies. Fold the tortilla over to create a half-moon shape.
  4. Carefully place the quesadilla in the hot skillet. Cook for about 3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese starts to melt.
  5. Use a spatula to flip the quesadilla gently. Cook for another 3 minutes on the other side until it's crispy and the cheese is fully melted.
  6. Transfer the cooked quesadilla to a cutting board. Let it cool for a minute, then slice it into wedges for easy serving.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired. Serve with sour cream and guacamole for dipping.
