Ingredients

Main
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 packet 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water about 110°F
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden spoon or dough whisk
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper (optional)
  • Kitchen towel

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. Pour in the warm water and olive oil.
  3. Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover it with a kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough to release air. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each into a ball.
  7. Place the shaped rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spaced apart. Cover them and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm with butter, as sandwich rolls, or lightly toasted for breakfast.
