  • 2 ounces vodka preferably premium quality
  • 1 ounce peppermint schnapps
  • 0.5 ounces white creme de cacao
  • 0.5 ounces fresh cream or half-and-half
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 2 tablespoons crushed candy canes for rimming optional
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar for rim coating optional
  • 2 to 3 fresh peppermint leaves for garnish optional

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Chill your martini glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes.
  2. Step 2: Mix crushed candy canes and powdered sugar on a small plate and rim the glass with simple syrup, dipping into the mixture.
  3. Step 3: Fill your cocktail shaker halfway with ice, about 1 cup of ice cubes.
  4. Step 4: Measure and add 2 ounces of vodka into the shaker using a jigger.
  5. Step 5: Add 1 ounce of peppermint schnapps to the shaker.
  6. Step 6: Pour in 0.5 ounces of white creme de cacao and 0.5 ounces of fresh cream or half-and-half.
  7. Step 7: Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 seconds until the exterior is frosty.
  8. Step 8: Strain the cocktail into your chilled, rimmed martini glass using a Hawthorne strainer.
  9. Step 9: Garnish with fresh peppermint leaves or a candy cane stick and serve immediately.

Ensure all ingredients and glassware are pre-chilled to prevent rapid dilution and maintain optimal temperature.
