Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Griddle or skillet
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined; a few lumps are okay.
  4. Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat.
  5. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the griddle for each pancake and cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 2 minutes.
  6. Carefully flip the pancakes and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Keep cooked pancakes warm in a low oven while you finish cooking the remaining batter.
  8. Serve pancakes immediately with your favorite toppings such as maple syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.

Notes

Let the batter rest for a few minutes to achieve even fluffier pancakes.
