Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup crushed Oreo cookies about 8-10 cookies

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Plastic wrap or airtight container

Method

  1. Start by placing the softened butter in a mixing bowl. Beat it with an electric mixer on medium speed until it's creamy and smooth, about 2 minutes.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar to the butter while mixing to prevent a cloud of sugar from going everywhere and to achieve a consistent texture.
  3. Next, add the heavy cream to the mixture to help lighten the icing, making it easier to spread.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and mix on low speed until combined, infusing the icing with a warm, aromatic flavor.
  5. Gently fold in the crushed Oreo cookies using a spatula to ensure even distribution without breaking up the cookie pieces too much.
  6. If the icing is too thick, add a bit more heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, aiming for a spreadable consistency.
  7. Taste the icing and adjust the sweetness by adding more powdered sugar if needed.
  8. Use the icing immediately, or store it in an airtight container covered with plastic wrap to prevent a crust from forming.

Notes

This icing can be used on various desserts like cupcakes or brownies and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
