Ingredients

Main
  • 1 lb monkfish fillet
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring spoons
  • Fish spatula or tongs

Method

  1. Start by rinsing the monkfish fillet under cold water and patting it dry with paper towels.
  2. Using a sharp knife, cut the monkfish into 1-inch thick pieces.
  3. In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Coat the monkfish pieces with this marinade for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Place your skillet over medium-high heat and allow it to get hot.
  5. Add the marinated monkfish pieces to the skillet and sear them for about 4-5 minutes on each side.
  6. Ensure the monkfish reaches an internal temperature of 145°F.
  7. Once cooked, remove the monkfish from the skillet and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve.
  9. Serve the monkfish with your choice of sides.

Notes

This monkfish pairs wonderfully with a variety of sides such as steamed asparagus, garlic mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.
