Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves loosely packed
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice about 8-10 limes
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups cold club soda
  • 2 cups white rum
  • Ice for serving
  • Lime slices and mint sprigs for garnish

Equipment

  • Pitcher
  • Muddler or wooden spoon
  • Measuring cup
  • Ice cube tray
  • Serving glasses

Method

  1. Wash the fresh mint leaves to remove any dirt.
  2. In a pitcher, combine the mint leaves, lime juice, and sugar.
  3. Use a muddler or wooden spoon to gently press the mint leaves to release their oils.
  4. Pour in the white rum and stir well to dissolve the sugar completely.
  5. Carefully add the cold club soda to the pitcher.
  6. Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness with more sugar or tartness with lime juice if needed.
  7. If time allows, chill the pitcher in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  8. Fill serving glasses with ice cubes.
  9. Pour the mojito into each glass and garnish with lime slices and mint sprigs.

Notes

Serve immediately for the best flavor. You can store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, but the fizz may diminish.
