Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 can 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt optional but recommended

Equipment

  • Microwave-safe mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon or silicone spatula
  • 8x8 inch baking dish or square pan
  • Parchment paper or wax paper
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Sharp knife for cutting fudge into pieces

Method

  1. Pour the cocoa powder, sweetened condensed milk, and butter into a microwave-safe mixing bowl and stir to combine.
  2. Microwave the mixture on high power for 90 seconds, then stir until smooth.
  3. Return the bowl to the microwave and heat on high power for another 60 seconds, then stir vigorously until fully combined.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt, if using, until well incorporated.
  5. Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment or wax paper, leaving an overhang on two sides.
  6. Quickly pour the warm fudge mixture into the prepared pan and spread into an even layer with a spatula.
  7. Refrigerate the pan for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results, until the fudge is firm.
  8. Lift the set fudge from the pan using the parchment overhang and cut into 16 equal pieces with a sharp knife, wiping the blade between cuts.

Notes

Dip the knife in hot water and dry between cuts for clean slices; store fudge in an airtight container with parchment paper between layers.
