Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Brush for glazing

Method

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the maple syrup, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, black pepper, and cinnamon.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the mixture begins to bubble.
  3. Reduce the heat and let the glaze simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. After 10 minutes, check the consistency; it should coat the back of a spoon.
  6. Remove from heat and let the glaze cool slightly.
  7. Brush the glaze generously over the ham, covering all surfaces.
  8. Follow your ham's cooking instructions, glazing it every 20 minutes.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, add a splash of apple cider vinegar to the glaze. This glaze pairs beautifully with roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes.
