Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice about 4-6 lemons
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon zest optional, for extra flavor

Equipment

  • Juicer or citrus press
  • Medium saucepan
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Stirring spoon
  • Glass jars or bottles for storage

Method

  1. Start by washing the lemons thoroughly.
  2. Using a juicer or citrus press, extract the juice from the lemons to get about one cup of juice.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine the lemon juice, sugar, and water. Stir well to dissolve the sugar completely.
  4. Place the saucepan over medium heat and heat the mixture.
  5. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it cook for 5-10 minutes.
  6. If you're using lemon zest, add it to the mixture during the last minute of simmering.
  7. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the lemonade concentrate cool to room temperature.
  8. Pour the cooled concentrate into clean glass jars or bottles, seal tightly, and refrigerate.
