Ingredients

Main
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon sage
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Skillet or frying pan
  • Measuring spoons
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Meat thermometer (optional)

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine salt, black pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, sage, thyme, sugar, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Add the ground pork to the bowl with the seasoning mix. Use your hands to mix everything together gently.
  3. Form the mixture into patties, about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Preheat your skillet over medium heat.
  5. Place the patties in the skillet without overcrowding them. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. If using a meat thermometer, check that the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  7. Once cooked, remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes.
  8. Serve the sausage patties warm.
