Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk or milk alternative

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Waffle iron
  • Airtight container for storage

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and baking soda.
  2. If making a large batch, transfer the dry mix to an airtight container.
  3. When ready to make waffles, whisk together the eggs, milk, and oil or melted butter in a separate bowl.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  6. Lightly grease the waffle iron if necessary, then pour batter onto the center of the iron.
  7. Close the lid and cook until golden brown, which usually takes about 5 minutes.
  8. Keep waffles warm in a low oven while cooking the rest.
  9. Serve the waffles warm with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For extra crispy waffles, let the batter rest for a few minutes before cooking.
