Ingredients

Main
  • 1 pound ribeye steak thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper sliced
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 8 ounces provolone cheese sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Skillet or frying pan
  • Spatula
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Meat slicer or sharp knife

Method

  1. Start by slicing the ribeye steak into thin strips.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced onions and green bell peppers, cooking until softened and slightly caramelized.
  4. Push the veggies to the side of the skillet and add the remaining olive oil.
  5. Add the sliced steak, seasoning it with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
  6. Mix the sautéed vegetables with the cooked steak in the skillet.
  7. Layer the provolone cheese over the steak and veggies. Cover the skillet with a lid for a minute or two.
  8. Slice the hoagie rolls and toast them in a separate skillet or under the broiler.
  9. Once the cheese has melted, spoon the steak and vegetable mixture into each toasted hoagie roll.
  10. Serve the cheesesteaks immediately while they are warm and cheesy.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding garlic powder or Worcestershire sauce to the steak while cooking.
