Ingredients

Main
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk cold

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Pastry cutter or fork
  • Measuring cups
  • Rolling pin

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour and cold, cubed butter. Use a pastry cutter or fork to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the cold milk and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently pat it into a rectangle about 1 inch thick.
  6. Using a biscuit cutter or a glass, cut out biscuits from the dough.
  7. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, close together for soft sides or spaced apart for crispy edges.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Once baked, let them cool slightly and enjoy warm.
