Ingredients

Proteins
  • 1 pound of boneless chicken breast cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 pound of shrimp peeled and deveined
Vegetables
  • 2 cups of mixed vegetables like bell peppers, zucchini, and onions
Sauces and oils
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Serving
  • Cooked rice for serving

Equipment

  • Large hibachi grill or grill pan
  • Spatula
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Prepare the ingredients by cutting the chicken into bite-sized pieces and preparing the shrimp.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  3. Preheat the hibachi grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the marinated chicken to the grill, spreading it out in a single layer. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until browned and cooked through.
  5. Once the chicken is nearly done, add the shrimp to the grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes until done.
  6. Add the mixed vegetables to the grill and toss everything together, cooking until the veggies are tender and slightly charred.
  7. Drizzle the remaining soy sauce over the mixture, toss to combine, and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  8. Remove the hibachi from the grill and serve it hot over a bed of cooked rice.

Notes

For extra flavor, squeeze some fresh lemon juice over the dish just before serving.
