Ingredients

Main
  • 3 cups cooked potatoes diced
  • 1 cup cooked meat like corned beef, ham, or sausage, diced
  • 1 cup bell peppers diced
  • 1/2 cup onion diced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: hot sauce herbs for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Spatula
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Start by dicing your cooked potatoes, meat, bell peppers, and onion into small, uniform pieces.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the diced onion and bell peppers to the skillet. Sauté them for about 5 minutes until they are soft and fragrant.
  4. Stir in the diced potatoes and season with salt and pepper. Let them cook undisturbed for a few minutes.
  5. Once the potatoes start to brown, add the diced meat. Mix everything together and allow it to cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Press the mixture down with your spatula and let it cook for a few minutes without stirring.
  7. Once everything is heated through and crispy, taste for seasoning and adjust with more salt and pepper if needed.
  8. Transfer your delicious hash to plates and garnish with optional hot sauce or herbs.

Notes

You can use leftover baked or fried potatoes for extra crispiness. Also, feel free to experiment with different meats or go vegetarian by using hearty vegetables or beans.
