Method
- Pour fresh ice cubes into your highball glass until it's about three-quarters full to ensure your drink stays cold throughout consumption.
- Using a jigger, pour exactly 1.5 ounces of vodka into your cocktail shaker.
- Pour 4 ounces of fresh orange juice into the same shaker with the vodka.
- Fill your cocktail shaker with fresh ice cubes until it reaches about halfway full.
- Close your shaker and shake hard for about 10 seconds until the outside becomes frosty and cold.
- Using your bar strainer, carefully pour the mixed drink from your shaker into the ice-filled highball glass.
- Pour 0.5 ounce of Galliano liqueur slowly over the back of a bar spoon held just above the drink's surface to create a beautiful golden float on top.
- Place an orange wheel on the rim of the glass and serve right away while the drink remains perfectly cold.
Notes
Always use fresh-squeezed orange juice if possible for the best flavor. Chill your glass in the freezer for at least 15 minutes before making the drink to extend how long the cocktail stays cold. Invest in a decent vodka rather than budget options since quality matters in this simple cocktail. Keep your Galliano in the freezer so it pours slowly and floats more dramatically.
