Ingredients

Main
  • 4 medium beets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Grill or grill pan
  • Aluminum foil
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Mixing bowl

Method

  1. Start by washing the beets thoroughly under cool water to remove any dirt.
  2. Using a sharp knife, trim the tops and tails of the beets.
  3. Place the beets on a sheet of aluminum foil and drizzle with olive oil.
  4. Wrap them tightly in the foil to create a sealed packet.
  5. Preheat your grill to medium-high.
  6. Place the foil-wrapped beets on the grill and close the lid.
  7. Grill for about 30-40 minutes, turning occasionally.
  8. After 30 minutes, carefully open the foil to check if the beets are tender.
  9. Once cooked, remove the beets from the grill and let them cool for a few minutes.
  10. Peel off the skin using your fingers or a paper towel.
  11. Slice the beets into wedges or rounds, then drizzle with balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper to taste.

Notes

These grilled beets pair beautifully with salads, grains, or as a stand-alone snack. Consider marinating in olive oil and balsamic for extra flavor.
