  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • Optional: Fresh herbs like mint for garnish

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • 9x13 inch baking dish
  • Fork

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the fresh fruit juice, water, and granulated sugar until the sugar completely dissolves.
  2. Transfer the mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  3. Place the baking dish in the freezer for about 1 hour.
  4. After 1 hour, use a fork to scrape the mixture, breaking up any ice crystals that may have formed.
  5. Return the dish to the freezer and freeze for another 2 to 3 hours, scraping every 30 minutes.
  6. Once the granita is fluffy and fully frozen, use a fork to fluff it one last time before serving.
  7. Scoop the granita into serving bowls and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
  8. Enjoy your homemade granita immediately for the best texture.

Notes

For a creamier texture, add a splash of coconut milk to the fruit juice mixture before freezing.
