Method
- Fill a highball or cocktail glass with ice and chill for at least 10 minutes before mixing.
- Pour 2 ounces (60 milliliters) gin into a jigger and add it to the chilled glass.
- Add 4 ounces (120 milliliters) of fresh juice over the gin and ice.
- Squeeze 0.5 ounce (15 milliliters) fresh lemon or lime juice into the glass and stir gently for about 10 seconds.
- Taste the cocktail and, if needed, add 0.5 ounce (15 milliliters) simple syrup to adjust sweetness, then stir again.
- Stir the mixture for an additional 10 to 15 seconds to ensure all ingredients are well combined and ice-cold.
- If the original ice has begun to melt, top the drink with fresh cubes to maintain temperature.
- Garnish with a citrus wheel, herb sprig, or a few berries on the rim or floating atop the drink before serving.
Notes
Use fresh-squeezed juice for the brightest flavor and adjust sweetness to your taste.
