Ingredients

Main
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 tsp taco seasoning
  • 8 corn tortillas
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Shredded lettuce for topping
  • Diced tomatoes for topping
  • Shredded cheese for topping
  • Hot sauce optional

Equipment

  • Large skillet or deep frying pan
  • slotted spoon
  • Paper towels
  • Mixing bowl
  • Cutting board and knife

Method

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon for even cooking.
  2. Add the taco seasoning and stir well to combine.
  3. In a separate pan, lightly warm the corn tortillas over low heat.
  4. Place a generous spoonful of the cooked meat into each tortilla.
  5. Carefully fold each tortilla in half, creating a taco shape.
  6. In your frying pan, heat about an inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  7. Gently place the folded tacos in the hot oil, a few at a time. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  8. Remove the tacos with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  9. Serve hot with your favorite toppings!

Notes

For extra crunch, double fry the tacos by frying once, letting them cool, and frying again.
