Ingredients

Main
  • 4 slices of bread your choice, thick-cut works best
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter for cooking

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Flat skillet or griddle
  • Spatula
  • Knife for slicing bread

Method

  1. Start by cutting each slice of bread into 3 equal strips.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Place your skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a tablespoon of butter. Let it melt.
  4. Take each bread strip and dip it into the egg mixture, ensuring it is well-coated.
  5. Carefully place the dipped bread strips onto the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. After flipping, add a little more butter to the skillet if needed.
  7. If cooking in batches, keep the finished sticks warm in a low oven.
  8. Serve your French toast sticks warm with syrup, fruit, or toppings.
