Ingredients

Main
  • 500 g fresh fish fillets
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Goan red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil for frying

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or electric mixer
  • Frying pan
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, mix Goan red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Coat the fish fillets with this spice mixture and let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. In a frying pan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat.
  4. Once the oil is hot, gently place the marinated fish in the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, lemon juice, and any leftover spices.
  6. Once the fish is cooked, remove it from the pan and let it cool slightly. Drizzle the mayonnaise mixture over the fish.
  7. Transfer the fish to a serving platter and garnish with fresh herbs or lemon wedges.
  8. Enjoy the delicious combination of spicy fish and creamy sauce.

Notes

Letting the fish marinate longer enhances the flavors. Serve with rice or bread for a complete meal.
