Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup dried chickpeas soaked overnight
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Food processor
  • Spatula
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Start by soaking the dried chickpeas in water overnight.
  2. Drain the chickpeas and add them to a food processor with onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pulse until the mixture is coarse but combined; you want some texture.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and let it chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  6. Form the chilled mixture into small balls or patties, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
  7. Lightly brush or spray olive oil on the formed falafel.
  8. Place the falafel in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  9. Cook for about 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through for even crispness.
  10. Once golden and crispy, remove the falafel from the air fryer and serve warm.

Notes

Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or in a pita with fresh veggies.
