Ingredients

Main
  • 1 can 15 oz salmon, drained and flaked
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion finely chopped
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Fork or potato masher
  • Large skillet
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Open the canned salmon and drain it well.
  2. Flake the salmon with a fork in a mixing bowl, ensuring there are no large chunks.
  3. Add the breadcrumbs, chopped onion, beaten eggs, lemon juice, dried dill, salt, and pepper to the bowl.
  4. Use a fork or potato masher to combine everything until well mixed.
  5. Take a handful of the mixture and shape it into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick.
  6. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a generous amount of oil.
  7. Carefully place the patties in the hot skillet, leaving space between each one.
  8. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are golden brown.
  9. Once cooked, transfer the patties to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
  10. Serve the salmon patties warm, perhaps with a squeeze of lemon or a dipping sauce.
