  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3-4 tablespoons cold water

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Pastry cutter or fork
  • Rolling pin
  • Pie pan

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  2. Add the chilled, cubed butter to the flour mixture and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together.
  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently a few times.
  5. Shape the dough into a disc and wrap it in plastic wrap. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Roll out the dough into a circle about 1/8 inch thick on a floured surface.
  8. Transfer the rolled-out dough to your pie pan and press it gently into the corners.
  9. Trim any excess dough, leaving a little overhang.
