Ingredients

Main
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water about 110°F
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil plus more for drizzling
  • Coarse sea salt for topping
  • Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme, optional

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel
  • Oven

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, and salt.
  2. Pour in the warm water and olive oil. Mix with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 2 minutes.
  4. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover it and let it rise in a warm place for about 20 minutes.
  5. Prepare your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Once risen, gently punch down the dough and transfer it to the baking sheet, stretching it out to fit the pan.
  7. Cover the shaped dough again and let it rise for another 15 minutes.
  8. Preheat your oven to 425°F.
  9. After the second rise, drizzle more olive oil on top and sprinkle with coarse sea salt and any herbs desired.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
