Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a cake pan according to the cake mix package instructions.
- Bake the cake mix in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan, then transfer to a cooling rack for an additional 15 minutes.
- Crumble the cooled cake into fine crumbs in a large mixing bowl.
- Add 1 cup of frosting to the cake crumbs and mix until well combined and moldable.
- Use your hands or a small cookie scoop to shape the mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Place the baking sheet in the freezer for 15-20 minutes to firm up the cake balls.
- Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and glossy.
- Dip each chilled cake ball into the melted chocolate, tapping off excess, then immediately add sprinkles or decorations.
- Insert a cake pop stick or skewer into each ball and stand them upright. Let chocolate set completely, about 10 minutes.
Notes
