Ingredients

Main
  • 1.5 pounds beef steak sirloin or ribeye, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch optional, for thickening

Equipment

  • Crock pot
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cutting board
  • Chef's knife

Method

  1. Start by cutting the beef steak into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, season the steak pieces with salt and black pepper.
  3. In a skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil and sear the steak pieces until browned on all sides, about 3 minutes.
  4. Once seared, transfer the steak to the crock pot and add chopped onion and minced garlic.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, thyme, and rosemary.
  6. Pour the sauce over the steak and aromatics in the crock pot.
  7. Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 6 hours.
  8. If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with a little water and stir into the crock pot during the last 30 minutes of cooking.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or crusty bread for a comforting meal.
