Ingredients

Main
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Large skillet or saucepan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cutting board
  • Knife

Method

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Break it apart with a wooden spoon and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the onions are soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. If there's excess grease in the skillet, carefully drain it off.
  4. Add the ketchup, yellow mustard, brown sugar, chili powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20 minutes.
  6. After simmering, taste the sauce and add salt and pepper as needed.
  7. Once ready, spoon the sauce generously over grilled hot dogs.
  8. If you have any sauce left, let it cool and store it in an airtight container.

Notes

This sauce keeps well in the fridge for up to a week and can be used on burgers and fries too.
