Ingredients

Main
  • 1 small head of green cabbage shredded (about 4 cups)
  • 1 cup of shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup of mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of celery salt
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Start by cutting the cabbage into quarters and removing the core. Shred the cabbage using a sharp knife or a food processor for even pieces.
  2. Using a grater or food processor, shred the carrots into fine pieces. This adds a lovely sweetness and color to the coleslaw.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, and celery salt. Whisk together until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add the shredded cabbage and carrots to the bowl with the dressing. This allows the veggies to soak up all that delicious flavor.
  5. With clean hands or tongs, toss the cabbage and carrots in the dressing. Make sure everything is coated evenly for the best taste.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste, adjusting to your preference.
  7. Cover the coleslaw and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together beautifully.
  8. Give the coleslaw a final toss before serving. Enjoy it as a side dish, or pile it high on your favorite sandwich.

Notes

Letting the coleslaw chill for at least 30 minutes before serving enhances the flavors.
