Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2 ounces premium silver or blanco tequila
  • 1 ounce Cointreau
  • 0.75 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 ounces agave nectar optional
  • Salt for rimming the glass
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime wheel or twist for garnish

  • Cocktail shaker (Boston or standard)
  • Jigger
  • Bar spoon
  • Citrus juicer or hand juicer
  • Hawthorne strainer
  • Rocks glass or coupe glass
  • Cutting board and knife

Method
 

  1. Run a fresh lime wedge around the rim of a rocks glass, then dip the rim into kosher salt to coat evenly.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker three-quarters full with fresh ice cubes.
  3. Measure and pour 2 ounces of premium silver tequila into the shaker.
  4. Add 1 ounce of Cointreau to the shaker.
  5. Squeeze fresh lime juice to measure 0.75 ounces, then pour into the shaker.
  6. Add 0.5 ounces of agave nectar to the shaker if using for added sweetness.
  7. Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty.
  8. Strain the cocktail into the salt-rimmed glass filled with fresh ice using a Hawthorne strainer.
  9. Garnish with a lime wheel or twist and serve immediately while cold.

Notes

Always use fresh lime juice and Cointreau for the best flavor. Measure ingredients precisely for a balanced drink.
