Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Medium saucepan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Piping bag with a large round tip

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water and butter over medium heat. Bring it to a gentle boil to melt the butter completely.
  2. Once the mixture is boiling, remove it from the heat and quickly stir in the flour and salt to create a thick paste.
  3. Return the saucepan to low heat and continue stirring for about 2 minutes to cook the flour slightly.
  4. Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl and let it cool for about 5 minutes.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition to ensure a smooth batter.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Using a piping bag, pipe small mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each puff.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.

Notes

Experiment with different fillings like whipped cream, pastry cream, or savory cheese.
