Ingredients

Main
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Optional toppings: lettuce tomato, mayonnaise, ketchup

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Spatula
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Serving plates

Method

  1. Start by dicing the onion and measuring out your ingredients.
  2. Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
  3. Add the diced onions to the skillet and sauté until they are translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Next, add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, ensuring it is fully cooked through.
  5. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the beef while cooking.
  6. Once the beef is cooked, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the mixture and cover the skillet for a couple of minutes until the cheese melts.
  7. While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise.
  8. Scoop the cheesy beef mixture into the hoagie rolls and add any optional toppings you like.

Notes

Toast the rolls briefly in the skillet for an extra touch.
